ABOUT COLORBLIND
Joakim Knutzen is a visual artist from Norway who works under the name COLOURBLIND . His upbringing was marked by many moves and extensive bullying, which has left deep traces and shaped him as a person and an artist. Art became a safe space and a language for everything that could not be expressed in words – a place to process memories, pain and the search for belonging.
He studied Art, Design and Architecture at Hamar Cathedral School from 2018 to 2021, and continued at Einar Granum Kunstfagskole in Oslo from 2022 to 2023. There he immersed himself in composition, color theory and various techniques, and developed an expression that combines emotional honesty with a graphic and bold design language.
His work combines elements of popular culture, street art and personal symbolism . Using acrylic, spray paint, ink and oil pastel, he builds layered compositions that explore themes such as identity, inner conflict, hopelessness and the search for meaning. The works balance chaos and control, hope and darkness, inviting the viewer into a universe where contrasts create a new visual language.
For Joakim, the process is as important as the result. Each work begins with a feeling or a memory, and is developed intuitively through experimentation. He does not seek to provide simple answers, but to create space for interpretation, reflection and recognition – a connection between artist and viewer.
COLOURBLIND is a project in constant development. Through art, Joakim works to understand himself, process the past and build something new out of what once hurt. Each work becomes a new chapter, a meeting between vulnerability, courage and visual energy.
